OoVoo is this new type of skype I have just found, it is much faster and a lot better than skype in my personal opinion. I use it every night and the webcam quality is not bad. OoVoo is perfect for people who are distant from each other, for instance a family member on an extended trip to other parts of the world. The reason why I like Oovoo is because it is easy and simple and works perfectly.
Even though ooVoo is behind on skype, mostly due to popularity and the fact that Skype came out first, it is still pretty good. As of now, I have had no problems with it. The internet is quick so there is no freeze frame when you are web-caming and you can still type to people as well. The sound is also very good, there is not much lag between what the person says and then the voice comes out.
Another addition to ooVoo is that you can also use it as just a plain messenger to people. You can still send files and other stuff. OoVoo isn’t only for personal uses; it can also be used for Business reasons as well. You can send bilk files, photos and other business associated things. Even hold meetings, because on Oovoo you can invite up to 6 people at one time and they all can see you.
The only thing that is probably different from Skype and ooVoo, is that ooVoo has a text box that is separate from the web cam window, so sometimes that can get a bit messy when you are trying to write a message to them and keep a view of the person at the same time.
All in all I would chose ooVoo over Skype. I have seen some people with Skype and the quality of the streamed webcam is not much like ooVoo’s and not as fast or clear. But then again, since Skype did come out first, It is in the lead over ooVoo. I hope soon more and more people will join ooVoo, so then all my messenger needs will be satisfied.
